drawing for fun

by josh

got commissioned from Esquire Russia to do 4 different drawings of rooms with a big rock in the middle. No story or explanations....sometimes these are the best assignments.

These are rad. Love the raw-ness. Remind me a little of old Robert Weaver.

I love their simplicity, and I see a story in all of them.
Even though, they're not about anything...
Beautiful!

it would have been cool to see other art on the wall instead, its so typical of you to put your own drawing.

great stuff from all you, but you all draw very simular.
I honestly can't tell the other apart if you didn't label the names. Other than that good stuff.

thanks for all the comments. And to anyone that doesn't know who Gary Meyer is, he's the world's greatest perspective drawer, and king of all interiors. Whoever suggested life drawings, I totally agree..perhaps soon. I don't get to go out and draw from the figure too much anymore.

Did you ever find out what the story was for?
By the way they're very spooky and quiet, in a kubrikesque way.

Jealousy!

The rock should be wearing a hat.

Lou,thanks for the nice words. I'm still unsure of what the story was about. I think the art director is out on vacation these days. Robert Festino is a great guy...I met him down here in LA while he was on a photo shoot, and did some work for him a while back for Runner's World.
Valev, I like the drawings on your blog, you should post some more work
Jillian, did you convince Sam to come down?! good point about the hat, maybe a cowboy hat

Nice rock. Think I might get one for my apartment. You could start a new interior design fashion in the good old U.S.S.R.

Yo, Josh. These are great. Something about pen drawings of rooms. It seems like no matter how weird you make the shapes, in the end it always looks good. I can't believe this was an assignment. Thats pretty cool. Peace
