Workspaces!
We're switching it up this time. No illustrations, just photos of our hi-tech, state-of-the-art studios! You're burning with envy right now, aren't you?
First up, Frank-O:

This is Frank's temporary studio while he's transitioning to New York. If you look closely at the third photo, on the shelf next to the badass drawing, you'll find a lovely issue of Penthouse magazine peeking back at you. Frank claims he ran out and bought it right when he turned 18, and we believe him.
Next up, Joshie-Poo:

This is what Josh has to say:
"My workspace, tools and dogs: Cody and Porkchop. I use a G4 Powerbook with not enough RAM. Lots of pencil lead (because I draw too heavily). Gouache and Rives BFK...though I've recently made the switch to watercolor paper. Also, it is important to note my two secret weapons: coffee and high speed (Japanese) electrical eraser."
Last, and arguably least, Nathan (which, to everyone's amusement, sounds like "older sister" in japanese):

Neisansan says:
"This is my current workspace in Japan, which I'll have until I head back to smoggy LA in two weeks. Unlike my previous workplaces, this one comes with a stunning view of the japanese countryside, three fiesty cats, and two beautiful japanese women (who constantly point and laugh at me). I am ridiculed wherever I go.
My work materials include sumi brushes, winsor newton series seven, various inks, arches watercolor paper, books that have nothing to do with my work, and the obligatory glass of iced coffee."

where are the beautiful women? Cat looks scary
oh man, you guys make me jealous with the all the hi tech equipment you guys have. Awesome work spots, so much cooler then mine.
ps. the cat scares me nathan. and i expected alot of japanese school girls hanging out in your studio.
my workspace is depressing.
your work space is awesome frank, esp that issue of penthouse!
that cat scares me too, but he was the only one around. the other two cats are cooler, but they were off killing birds and mice.
Sigh... My "studio" consists of a computer on the floor :) Oh btw, nice sakura eraser Josh.
Dual screens, josh? Electic erasers? An adjustable magnifying glass? A COUCH?
Very profesh!!
Nice post guys! Josh, you have two dogs now?? Frank, good luck on the new digs in NY, it'll be exciting. Nathan, when you get back, you should join the Alehouse summit on Mondays.
I need to come over and 'plunder' your workspaces and walk away with some nice high-tech goodies...The only technologically advanced item in my 'work space' is my kneaded eraser. :'(
I wanna visit Josh's workspace. Sit there on the couch and watch him draw!
lol @ kenichi. :)
the electrical eraser is to make up for my weak arm muscles
it's a lie! he works out on a weekly basis. His arms are Michelangaean, his hands smooth like silk. The eraser is just for show.
I prefer to maintain the idea that you make so few mistakes that your erasing muscles have atrophied.
i wish i had workspace like those up there...
my workspace is truly depressing, but that's new york.
i loved seeing these photos!!
josh, electric erasers have come a long way!! i love them japanese models.
the ones i used to have to use for drafting/rendering classes in college
were more like power tools (heavy and not cordless at all, to get the good speed).
i'm waiting for an electric pencil, for my atrophied drawing muscles.
i wonder what this alehouse summit is...
you know, all you guys with your smug studio pictures filled with pets and porn make me sick. those studios are pathetic! and as soon as i get the internet and a job i'll show you a real studio!
Pretty swank boys ;)

Beautiful spot, can't say how many times i've been posted up in a corner, your studio shall be your sanctuary, but sometimes the opposite works too.
