Sketchbook New York

Hello,
I just switched coasts about a week ago and now am living in Brooklyn, New York. A couple of weeks before that I came out here to look for apartments. While looking around I filled up several sketchbook pages' worth of drawings, even started a new one. I've taken an interest in drawing locations more recently, especially because New York has so many interesting things to look at. many of these drawings were done with a Hunt 101 quill pen nib dipped into Sennelier inda ink, "the blackest" according to the jovial old guy who helped me at New York Central Art Supply. It's a real challenge to draw on location with quill pens, but the drawings are worth it. Expect ink spills.

I think that's about the best compliment I've ever been given. Thank you.
I really enjoy your stuff. Perhaps if you join the sketchcrawl coming up, we can spot you by an "Look at me I'm introverted" shirt.
welcome again frank!!
i love these sketches - all this time i lived here i never really have a proper new york sketch. :(
you've inspired me to try and do some!
and josh - you should move here too. :)
xo
These drawings also make me drink. New York Central is a great store. They have the greatest paper dept. upstairs.
i've just recently discovered your blog and love it!
these sketches are great. full of energy and confidence. very cool.
These are wonderful!Thanks for sharing.
awesome stuff as usual frank.
Welcome to NYC. The Windy Apple. Maybe one of these days we'll end up drawing each other on the subway.
Found your work in the Times today. Look forward to seeing more.
im frickin envious brother, would love to visit or live in either coast, perhaps one day i gots to just do it.
The sketches are amazing, so much to sketch out there.
Hey everyone, thanks for the awesome comments.
Josh: you may not switch coasts just yet. I'll let you know when the time is right.
Oskar: thanx
Jon Han: Sadness is what you get for not selling me your Gocco
German: I don't know how to make an "a" with an accent over it. Besides that, "melancolyc" is a cool looking word. Thanks.
Clerpee: thanks, still can't do that accent.
Pasto: I covered how I feel about your drinking already.
a: I don't have a "look at me I'm introverted" shirt but you'd be able to spot me because I would be the introvert.
Stella: I saw a big ad in the Villiage Voice yesterday with a drawing that looked an awful lot like your hand. I wasn't totally convinced, though. Did you do an ad for someone recently with a lot of red in the background? (why can't I remember the product?!?)
James: I think alcoholism is what makes you drink. Start taking responsibility for your own actions.
Mirna: thanks!
Dom: thanks for your regular and continued support.
Randy: Why are you spending time on here when there's ladies to be laid? ;)
Kenchi: Just to be commented on by an artist of your caliber is flattering enough. I hope we run into each other on one of my sketch excursions.
Rodrigo: Thanks, yes there is a lot of stuff to sketch out there. I'm thinking about taking up photography instead because making marks is just so time consuming.
thanks everyone,
FRANK
frank - yes!! for dashboard crapfessionals??
i just saw that today too - totally took me aback, because i actually designed t-shirts for them, so didn't expect to see an ad... (it was in the contract that they might do that).
funny, huh? how are you liking new york?
Hey Stella, here's to public email forums. I thought the Dashboard Confessionals poster was really nice, I liked it a lot. It feels good to be recognized, doesn't it?
I love New York.
fantastic work I love the colored lines in the sketch book pages
lots of fun stuff. i imagine you did the inking once you were home, right? nice trick if you were using a dip pen on the spot. lovely work. i may have to talk to you sometime about buying your art.
