Everyone's a critic.

by Nathan

Right before Thanksgiving, I was asked to do some illustrations for Time Out NY's "Critics" issue. Being something of a judgmental, critical snob myself (ask anyone who knows me), I was more than happy to accept the job. There wasn't a lot of time to crank the illustrations out with the holidays and all, but I figured the stash of Red Bulls in the studio would remedy that. Here are a few that I liked:

Rock Critic.

Book Critic.

Dance Critic.

Food Critic.

Film Critic.

Tonci - The food critic's my favorite too, even though it's just a tiny spot. It has the most character of the bunch.

Albert - I was watching "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly" when I was working on this, so it just naturally became a western. The original idea was to make it film noir like "The Third Man" or something.

Adi - Thanks! I'm glad you can get past my horrendous sketches.

Lyfe - Double the love. Give me more comments so I'll look popular.

Dominic - The idea for the book critic was actually taken from an old sketchbook image, which I probably should have posted.

Chris - Thanks, Chris!

Seeing these printed out in your book yesterday was awesome.

Your work looks far better in print than online.

Good luck at all your interviews next week!
