What I've been up to
Hi boys and girls,
It's been a while since I've posted on the blog, I know. Well, I have decided that I'm going to just dump a bunch of NEAT STUFF right here tonight just so y'all know I still exist. There's included some raw scans of pages from my current personal project, How Pathetic #2, a self portrait that won't get left alone, and some figure drawings. Life is good.

even more
CARS! So, strangely enough I've been doing a decent amount of car illustrations these days....heres a small illlustration that the New York Times Magazine commissioned from me. The story was about NASCAR safety regulations. Since Dale Earnhardt passesd away a few years ago, new safety regulations have been in place. Resulting in zero deaths and just as many crashes. The story goes on to compare driving on the freeway as having a lot more fatalities in the same amount of time. Something like 40,000 Americans dying in traffic each year. Which is totally crazy considering the fact that I live in THE commuter city. Anyways I decided to go for a little less hardcore approach to this assignment and thought about, "what would happen if we all wore the safety features that NASCAR drivers had to wear?"

NY Times
Hey Bros and Hos,
Friday morning I got a call from the NY Times to do a simple B&W illustration for the op ed pages that was due same day by 2pm. What a blast! I like the last-minute challenge because after the buzzer sounds its all over and that's that. I'm sure if it didn't work out I would have hated the experience, but even so there would have been a deadline. Ha!
Anyway, the article was basically about alternative medicine.
here are the rough sketches I sent them and the final piece at the end.

drawings from life
Yeah who really gets inspired by this stuff? Anyway, I'm running a figurative workshop at Art Center now and have to get some drawing done while I'm in there. I haven't enjoyed figure drawing in a long time, but I actually had a blast doing these. Oh, there's also a drawing of a cat, which was from a photo a friend sent me.
