jelly beans

by josh

I did this spread for my former college Health magazine, USC. The feature was on a new facility that is going to be use primarily for stem cell research. I had a few different ideas on doing sort of a portrait of the building's new director, but in the end, the art director went for something showing more the energy and feeling of different scientists collaborating, etc. I researched different types of stem cells and came up with....jelly beans. Actually, I kept on drawing red blood cells which, apparently, are very different from stem cells.

My Dad's in here somewhere too

Howdy everyone,

I did this little number for Mad Kids Magazine the other day. I'm stoked on how it came out.

What The World Needs Now...

by josh

For the New Yorker. On Burt Bacharach's new album "At This Time". Apparently a few tracks were co-produced by Dr. Dre. I went out and bought the CD...for reference of course. If anyone isn't familiar with Burt, he's the King of Easy Listening. I think he's been mostly producing for the last decade or so, until this "landmark" album. On the first listen, it became very obvious which tracks Dr. Dre had a hand on. Sort of a lazy ghetto, west coast synthesizer/ drum machine sound. Anyways, they went for something not so over the top...and I had a few songs stuck in my head for days. catchy.
